Good morning! Welcome to another issue of Good Things. I’m so glad you’re here!
We’ve got a lot of good things going on this week, and some of it may be inappropriate if you have kids looking over your shoulder who can read (or hilariously sound out letters.) But trust me - it’s worth it. So hide in your closet and scroll down!
Good Things
This article is full of theory about the potential for life existing on exoplanets. Now before we all get excited, the life we’re talking about here is something like yeast, or e.coli. Researchers conducted tests by exposing e.coli and brewer’s yeast in different environments, one of which mimicked a full-hydrogen atmosphere. The yeast and e.coli survived, albeit thriving less than they did in the conditions which mimicked Earth’s atmosphere.
Researchers also think that with new telescopes that will soon be available, planets that have an all-hydrogen atmosphere will be easier to find than gaseous planets. So maybe once we get a closer look at those planets, we’ll see a little bit of life outside of our own home planet.

Back on our planet, it’s now possible to take a tour of NYC for free with Untapped New York. Use the code at the link in bio for two months free, and sit back and relax for a staycation in NYC.

Every time I throw away something plastic, I think of it ending up in the oceans. I try very hard to use products that don’t contribute to this problem, but one thing that it can be hard to escape is the plastic bag. A-Zero bags are here to solve the problem. Eco-friendly and compostable, they biodegrade within 18 months instead of 300 years (which is how long it takes a single plastic bag to biodegrade.)

Funny Things
I’m a huge Star Wars fan, so I obviously clicked on this link. I cannot explain the immense hilarity that the title + photo + photo description bring me. Things that make me laugh out loud when I’m by myself (which is never, as I’m a mom with young kids during a pandemic) immediately go on the Funny Things list. Well done, James Whitbrook.

Anyway, the article goes into detail about this topic. I’ll go ahead and believe everything he says because he already made me laugh, and that equals credibility in my mind.
And in the category of “things we can all relate to,” this video from Trey Kennedy is hilarious and painfully true. Watch and laugh/cry.
Kids Things
This almost falls under the category of adult things, only because I know a lot of us are relating hard to this mama Ring-Tailed Lemur (with her babies crawling all over her.) But it’s the cutest video I ever did see, and it’s a fun quick vid to show kids (and maybe point out that how clingy they’re being. I expect that to yield zero differences.)
I can’t be the only one sharing parenting responsibilities with tv screens these days. Thankfully, these two lists are here to help me choose educational options that will ease a bit of that mom-guilt that can be hard to escape.
